Round 7 preview
Double blockbuster fixtures!
Kruisfontein United vs Gardens
A colossal clash taking place in Kruisfontein as the Kruisfontein United go head to head with Gardens. These two teams faced each other in the finals of the last two editions of the Grand Challenge competition. Gardens come in to this match as clear favourites, having won 4 of the 5 fixtures. Kruisfontein has had a tough start to their season, losing last time out to Harlequins. Previous form counts for nothing in this fixture as both teams will be looking to draw first blood. Gardens are in red hot form and Kruisfontein has made their home ground a fortress. Prediction, Kruisfontein by the closest of margins.
Progress vs Harlequins
Another humdinger awaits us at the Central fields in Kariega as log leaders Progress host Harlequins, in what is expected to be a close contest. Fireworks are expected from these two EP giants, where Progress will look to put home ground advantage to good use, but Harlequins will look to bring it on! It was Harlequins who derailed Progress’ season in the previous year and they will look to inflict damage again. Prediction, Harlequins by 7
Despatch Oostelikes vs NMU
The students played their first match of the season last week in what was a losing effort against Joubertina. Oostelikes are yet to win a match this season and they will be looking to take advantage of the rustiness of NMU. Oostelikes have really had a tough campaign so far and I do not see it changing this weekend. Prediction, NMU by 10
Joubertina vs Trying Stars
Joubertina play their 3rd home game in as many weeks and they will look to keep their winning momentum going in a clash against Trying Stars who seems to struggle away from home. Joubertina are the surprise package this season, occupying a top 4 spot having played 5 games. Prediction, Joubertina by 5
Star of Hope vs Park
Park make the short trip to Kwano this weekend as they will look to stake a claim for top 4 honours. Star of Hope had a promising start to the season, but have somewhat fallen out of the race a little bit. They do have home ground advantage this weekend and will look to put that to good use. Park have also been playing well this season and in my opinion will have too much in the tank for Star of Hope. Prediction, Park by 12
Brumbies vs Barbarians
Brumbies host Barbarians in this exciting match in Grahamstown. Brumbies had a great run before ending up on the wrong side of the scoreboard last weekend. Barbarians are yet to win a match this season and I don’t see that changing this weekend. Prediction, Brumbies by 15
