Round 7 review

Kruisfontein vs Gardens

The men from Kariega emerged victorious in Kruisfontein in what was an emphatic victory for the Green machine. Gardens threatened to run riot, leading 28 points to 9 at one stage as Kruisfontein had no answers for the speed and accuracy of the Gardens team. Kruisfontein did find some form in the latter stages of the match bringing the scoreline to a more respectable 28-21 at the end. The men in purple will rue missed opportunities as they are in are in a downward spiral on the field and on the log.

Joubertina vs Trying Stars

Joubertina emerges victorious in what was a close encounter between two teams who have aspirations of a top 4 finish at the end of the season. Joubertina playing in their 3rd home game will be happy with their points accumulated from those matches as they will have to travel a lot in the 2nd round of matches. Trying Stars still struggle to win away from home

Despatch Oostelikes  vs NMU

It was a clinical display by the students in Daleview, where NMU easily dispatched (no pun intended) their opponents. There were no signs of rust as the students proved to be way too strong for Oostelikes, who is looking more and more likely to be relegated at the end of the season as they are yet to register a win in this years competition.

Brumbies vs Barbarians

Suprise of the weekend as Barbarians travelled to Grahamstown the past weekend and picking up the W against an inform Brumbies team. What a way to pick up your first win of the competition, winning away from home. Barbarians will look to build up some momentum going forward and Brumbies will look to rediscover their form which saw them beat heavyweights Progress and Harlequins so far in the competition.

Star of Hope vs Park

Park is looking like the dark horses for the top 4 spots at the moment. They are going quietly about their business, week in and week out picking up crucial log points. Park is playing like a well oiled machine at the moment and will look to keep their winning momentum. Star of Hope has fallen of the wagon after a promising start to the season.

Progress vs Harlequins

The trend continues as another match will most likely be settled within 4 walls rather than the 4 lines. Progress vs Harlequins match did not kick off due to unsafe conditions at the home ground of Progress. Who will get the points? Progress were notified on the 9th of May by the NMBM that their field poses a safety risk. A match took place since that notification when Progress hosted Star of Hope, but the match vs Harlequins were not allowed to continue. This causes a lot of frustration for clubs and supporters as travelling arrangements are done in advance just for a no show.
